Sports & Orthopedic Massage
Description: Designed for clinical and athletic settings, this course teaches students how to address physical dysfunction and performance recovery. Students will learn to assess posture and movement to create a “blueprint” for targeted clinical treatment.
Learning Objectives:
Conduct postural and orthopedic assessments
Apply specialized strokes for athletic recovery and injury prevention
Learn how to apply pre and post event massage for the athlete
Students will practice deep tissue, Myofascial and Neuromuscular techniques previously learned
Students will address hyper and hypomobile joints and discuss treatment options
Passive and active range of motion techniques are used for all major joints
Various stretching theories and practices will be addressed
Students will understand the difference between strains and sprains as well as a variety of other soft tissue injuries
