Introduction to Neuromuscular Therapy
Description: This course will look at the communication between the muscular and nervous systems as it addresses various soft tissue concerns or disease states. Neuromuscular therapy is specialized to address tension and pain in soft tissue by addressing specific “trigger points.” The goal is to improve circulation, reduce nerve compression and improve overall mobility of the tissue.
Learning Objectives:
Students will gain an understanding of common neurological disorders
Students will learn when massage therapy is indicated in the treatment of neurological concerns
Various new techniques will be learned to address tension and pain
How people describe their pain will help the therapist design a treatment
Students will learn about localized verses referred pain and their various patterns
