Introduction to Deep Tissue Massage

Description: This course is meant to introduce the student to working more deeply into soft tissue without causing discomfort for the client. The effectiveness of various massage strokes will be discussed and practiced as students learn to use proper body mechanics and techniques to work deeply to address the needs of the client.

Learning Objectives:

• Students will learn to use their relaxed body weight for further depth

• Students will learn to enter the tissue at various angles

• Practice with working the tissue from superficial to deep

• Additional massage strokes will be introduced

• Depth will be seen as more of an intention than a place

• Pain perception and sensitivity scales will be used
